We employ over 130 people in Cyprus and abroad, and have over 30 stores in Cyprus, plus an expanding international business.
The company was created by Mr. Vasilis Michaelides in 1990 after his return from the United States where he has lived for ten years. During his stay in the United States, Mr. Michaelides has completed his undergraduate and graduate studies and has worked for several years at Johnson & Johnson in New York.
Nemea Trading Co. Ltd. was created as an import company and one of the first to import products from China. More specifically it was heavily involved in the import and wholesale of shoes. Very soon the company became one of the biggest in Cyprus in its sector due to the great effort and professionalism that characterized the team.
In 1995 the company made a strategic decision to exhibit its shoes’ collection at the Dubai International Shoe Exhibition. This was the first step towards developing an international network focusing in the Middle East and Greece.
Realizing that the future of trading was in the retail business the company focused in opening shops and creating franchise networks covering all major cities of
Cyprus. Mr Nicholas Antoniades has been added as a new shareholder in 1996 after his return to Cyprus from the United States recognizing company’s potentials.
This was a very important decision for the future of the organization. Focusing on retail business made the company one of the strongest in its sector and provided the base for further expansion in the future.
Strategic planning for the next years includes further expansion in retail business through franchise concepts in the clothing as well as dining and entertainment business.
